Cristian Duarte has been dedicated to research and creation in contemporary dance since 1994. He trained in São Paulo with Studio and Cia Nova Dança before graduating in 2002 from P.A.R.T.S., school directed by choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker in Brussels. His work as a choreographer is presented internationally and has been recognised by important dance awards in Brazil. His artistic practice involves the creation of shared work environments and experimentation in dance, such as the artistic residence Lote, which is developed with funding from the Municipal Dance Program for the city of São Paulo. Among his recent works are: Ó (2016), Biomashup (2014), The Hot One Hundred Choreographers (2011) and Against the Current, Glow (2015) for the Cullberg Ballet in Stockholm, where he was also professor and choreographer invited by the DOCH – University of Dance and Circus in 2013 and 2015.
