Cristian Duarte has been dedicated to research and creation in contemporary dance since 1994. He graduated in São Paulo with the Studio and Cia Nova Dança before graduating in Brussels at P.A.R.T.S. by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker in 2002. Since then he has been developing his own projects and collaborating with artists from Brazil and other countries. His work as a choreographer is presented internationally and has been recognized by important dance awards in Brazil. His artistic practice involves the creation of shared work environments and experimentation in dance, such as the artistic residence Lote, which is developed with funding from the Municipal Dance Program for the city of São Paulo. Among his recent works are: Ó (2016), Biomashup (2014), The Hot One Hundred Choreographers (2011) and Against the Current, Glow (2015) for the Cullberg Ballet in Stockholm, where he was also professor and choreographer invited by the DOCH – University of Dance and Circus in 2013 and 2015.
